Join a volunteer-led tour at 10:45 am or 1:45 pm on select days each week. Advance booking is essential — check available dates and secure your spot via the Eventbrite listings below.
This one-hour tour introduces the Library’s history and some of its key heritage spaces.
Tour highlights include:
- La Trobe Reading Room and Redmond Barry Reading Room: Explore these historic reading rooms and browse collections of books, magazines, and music.
- Galleries and The Ian Potter Queen’s Hall: Visit spaces featuring art and collection displays.
- Ned Kelly’s Armour: View the iconic bushranger’s armour on display.
Meeting Point: Please meet your guide at Hansen Hall, located in the Swanston Street Welcome Zone.
For large groups
Bookings can be made for up to 10 people (subject to availability). If your plans change and you’re unable to attend, please remember to cancel your tickets via Eventbrite, or contact us directly at volunteerguides@slv.vic.gov.au to free up space for other visitors.
Private tours
Currently, we are not offering private tours. We invite groups to book any available time slot listed on Eventbrite.
