What inspires creative writing? In this unique, hands-on workshop, students will explore how everything from places and objects to personal experiences can be used to generate ideas. Guided through the iconic spaces and unique items of State Library Victoria's collection, they will experiment with diverse writing techniques to tell a story that is wholly their own.
Students will:
- Gain access to unique resources from the Library’s collection to spark creative possibilities
- Use a journal to explore and develop expressive writing skills
- Develop ideas and practise creative writing techniques to engage the reader
- Develop imaginative responses inspired by context
- Participate in a guided tour of the Library’s unique heritage spaces

The booking process

Size of booking: A maximum of two classes (50 students) can be allocated to one booking time and program via the online booking system.
If you require any adjustments to the booking time or group size, please contact the Education team at education@slv.vic.gov.au and we will do our best to accommodate within the parameters of our programming.

Funding opportunity for low-ICSEA schools
Schools with an ICSEA ranking below 1000 may be eligible for our Access Education Funding to support the cost of attending a facilitated program at State Library Victoria. Check your school’s ICSEA on the My School website. Contact the Education Team at education@slv.vic.gov.au for more information on how to book Access funded programs.
